Quadrangular drill pipe

The drill pipe is the main driving force of the entire drill string. It transfers torsional energy from the turntable through the drill string to the drill bit at the bottom of the well. A square drill pipe is a precision-machined rectangular or hexagonal heavy steel bar that is rotated and supported by a turntable and connected to the first section of the drill pipe in the drill string.

The straightness of the square drill pipe is critical during the manufacturing process, so straightness checks are performed before, during, and after each machining operation. Planes are precisely milled to API specifications. All milling processes are carried out on rigid square drilling machines specially designed to ensure tight tolerances and high-quality drive sections. Each square buckle is equipped with a press-fit steel thread protector.
