Drill collar

The drill collar is an essential component of the downhole drilling tool assembly, which provides weight for the drilling of the drill bit and maintains the drill string tension.

The drill collar is made of AISI 4145H to modify the tempered steel and is heat treated along its entire length for uniform toughness and durability. Rigorous metallurgical tests are performed to specifications to ensure that heat treatment produces consistent and maximum hardness is determined by the depth of the rod.

Features and benefits

● Hardness range of 285 to 341 BH N, Charpy impact value of 40 lb/ft, guaranteed uniform distribution of 16 points on any cross-section at room temperature;

● The processed connection is coated with a phosphate coating to protect the thread from corrosive elements and prevent wear during initial assembly;

● The thread root of the API and H-90 connection is cold rolled;

●All drill collars equipped with standard connections are equipped with press-threaded protectors
